I LOVE TARGET!!!

I LOVE TARGET!!!

I really DO love shopping at Target! When they opened a new one about a mile from where I lived, I was in heaven. I love the shirts and sweaters they have, I never buy my lingerie (read underwear) any where else, and I could spend hours is the bath and bedding department. When my daughter was younger, I would fill my cart with all kinds of goodies for whatever holiday was coming up. My treat bags at Halloween were the envy of the block. Now, they have a really cool $1.00 section with all kinds of stuff that I don't need, but hey, it's only a dollar. Which reminds me I need to find another container to put all of my $1.00 treasures. No problem there! I'll just stroll down the storage container aisle and see what I can find!

There are 2 things, however, that I won't buy at Target. I won't buy books there. They are way too expensive and after all a book doesn't change from one store to another. I mean it's the same book whether you pay $25.00 or $5.00. It's got the same number of pages, the same dust cover, and is written by the same author.

The other thing I won't buy at Target are scented candles. Don't get me wrong, I used to buy candles there and at the grocery store, and the Hallmark store and a lot of other places. I didn't know any better. I thought that scented candles were only supposed to be scented for an hour. I thought that all that black gook (another name for soot) on the jar and the wall was normal. And heaven knows that those other candles in the pretty jars, with the pretty names, were supposed to burn right straight down the middle leaving all of that wax around the sides.

So imagine my surprise when I found a candle made from natural waxes (even my Vegan friends approve), has a scent “throw” (smell) that lasts as long as there is wax left to burn, produces very little black gook, and burns evenly so there is no wax left around the sides of the jar! I was also surprised at the price of these new found “scent-sational” candles. My first response was “at THAT price, they had better “throw” their scent all over the neighborhood!

Then I started comparing prices, the same way I compare prices on green beans, computers, or anything else I plan on purchasing. Here's what I discovered:

A 10oz jar candle at Target is $15.00. ($1.50 per ounce)
A 9.88 oz (strange) jar candle at Target is $12.00. ($1.21 per ounce)
A 6 oz jar candle at Target is $12.00 ($2.00 per ounce)
A 7 oz jar candle at Target is $10.00 ($1.43 per ounce)
An 8 oz. “aromatherapy” candle at Target is $19.00 ($2.37 per ounce)

Compare to the candles I am burning:

A 16oz. jar candle is $19.00 ($1.19 per ounce)
A 26 oz jar candle is $25.00 (.96 per ounce)
An 8 oz. “SPA” candle is $20.00 ($2.50 per ounce)

The moral of the story, in my opinion, is that there is more to a candle than just a jar and wax. What might look like a bargain may cost more in the long run and what seems expensive may actually be less expensive overall.

Mom and Pop Home Candle Business

“Mom & Pop Home Candle Business”

We have all heard of “Mom & Pop” businesses. They are generally small family owned establishments with few or no employees that aren't family members. Mom and Pop grocery stores & cafes are (or were) fairly common. My grandparents owned a Mom & Pop Tourist Court (motel) in the 1940's & 50's. Across the street was a family owned drug store, where Pop was the druggist, Mom ran the cash register & their sons manned the soda fountain. They knew most of their customers by name and it wasn't uncommon to score a free soda or piece of candy once in a while “just for stopping in”.

Unfortunately, a lot of these friendly small business were forced to close with the emergence of Holiday Inns, Wal-Marts, & the rest of the “Big Chains”. Some of these Mom & Pop operations had been doing business for generations. As they disappeared, so did the familiarity between customers and owners. Gone was the feeling that your business was appreciated as was the one on one customer service.

So what if I told you that you could have a Mom & Pop Home Candle business? The candle industry is a $2 Billion industry and growing. Candles are a consumable product (high reorder rate) and are popular for both personal use and gift giving. Retired couples, young couples starting out, and couples in college looking for a way to earn extra income, are just a few examples of who could build a successful candle business from home.

This business has a low start-up cost (less than $50) and is YOUR business to operate as you wish. You set your prices based on what your profit goals are. You have three ways to earn income:

Retail, Fund Raising & Residual.

Retail includes friends, family, co-workers, craft shows & expos, spas, salons, & life styling. (a fancy way of saying “talk to everybody about your business”).

Fund Raising is a year round way to earn. Sports teams, church groups, school clubs, day care centers, animal shelters and more are always looking for easy ways to raise money.

Residual Income is the best way to establish long term income. Build a team and earn commissions on your team member's sales. We offer commissions 6 levels deep. 10% on level 1 and 6 and 5% on levels 2 through 5.

By working with your spouse, partner or significant other you can pool your talents and strong points. Maybe one of you is more outgoing and likes to talk to people while the other one is more comfortable working the business online. And before you say it: YES men CAN sell candles! We have many extremely successful men in our company including the three founders.

This is a great opportunity to build a business from the comfort of your own home, on your own schedule, and be able to spend time and have fun with that special someone.

BAIL YOURSELF OUT!

We are all being affected by the economic upheaval taking place in this country one way or the other. We are all experiencing job insecurity, job loss, rising food and medical costs all the while watching our homes decline in value and our life savings grow smaller by the day. Most of these issues are out of our control, but the way we handle them are well within our control. We can sit around waiting for the next shoe to drop and hope the government pulls a rabbit out of it's hat and saves us all, OR we can take action and start bailing ourselves out of this mess.

Many people are taking second and, sometimes, third jobs to make ends meet. That is if they still have a first job. I wonder what would happen if these people and anyone else would consider a home based business as a way to earn additional income. Now before you roll your eyes and start mumbling words like “scam”, “pyramid”, and B.S., open your mind and consider the facts.

Fact # 1 There are many, many legitimate home based businesses out there. In fact, I bet you have products in your home that you have bought from someone with a home based business.

Fact #2 You have to research the company. How long have they been in business, what are their compensation plans, what are their rules for marketing the products, how many ways can you market the products, are the products consumable (important for repeat business), what are the minimums in terms of sales quotas and orders, is the business willable ( can your heirs inherit it), how do you “quit” if you decide to. All of these questions need to be answered BEFORE you consider any home based company. Do a Google search and look at what other people say about the business, both consumers and representatives.

Fact #3 You must use and believe in the product you are representing.

Fact #4 You must treat a home based business as a business. You have to actually DO something to make it successful. You can't devote an hour a month and expect it to grow and thrive. This is where the saying “You reap what you sow” has never been truer. You have to be ready to do whatever it takes to grow your business so that you can reap the rewards. However, one of the best things about having a home based business is that it does allow you to be flexible with your schedule, so an afternoon going to the movies with your kids is definitely doable!

My home based business had all of the right answers. I love and use the products, so telling others about how great they are is easy. The compensation plan is one of the most generous in the home based business industry. The cost is $39.95 per month and includes products and company website. That is all I am required to spend. Retail value of the products is a little more than $60. If that is all I spent and sold just those products, my business would be profitable. But that would be silly. Considering that my profit potential as a distributor is 100% for the 16 oz Jars, and as much as 200% for the Votive candles, why not sell as many as possible? By taking prepaid orders, the customers are paying for the product and the rest goes into MY pocket.

I am not a sales person, all I do is talk to people and let them know I have a product they are going to love. I offer them a business card and sample scent and let “nature take it's course”.

If you are looking to possibly improve your financial situation and are willing to invest very little money and some good old fashioned time and effort, visit my website or contact me. All the details are there and I promise I will help you be successful.

Have You Ever?

Have you ever wanted to have your own business?

Work your own schedule?
Be able to take 2 hours in the middle of the day to do something unexpected and fun with your kids?
Have a business that is worked around your family instead of your family working around your job?

You probably also thought that it wasn't possible.

WELL, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE!!!

I am an Independent Distributor For Mia Bella's Gourmet Candles and I am doing all of those things and more. I'm not going to insult your intelligence by telling you that I am making thousands of dollars a week, because I'm not. What I am doing is selling a product that I love and use, talking to people about my business, helping organizations raise money, and offering people an honest way to improve their lives.

HOW?

Who do you know that burns scented candles? For every 1 person you know, they probably know 5 and those 5 people know 5 people and on and on. Of course that doesn't mean every one of those people will buy something, but that's a pretty good starting point. For every 16oz. Jar Candle sold, your profit is at least 50%. For every 2.5 oz votive candle sold, your profit is at least 50%. I say "at least", because the profit is based strictly on how much you want to charge for the candles.

ANOTHER WAY - FUND RAISERS

Do you know people who are in school, play sports, take dance lessons, sing in the church choir,
loves animals, or are involved in any group that occasionally needs to raise money? Simply show them your product and explain that they can earn $5 to $6 per candle. You also make a profit and don't have to do any selling. Just think about what a great way this is to get your candles out to a large number of people!

Those are just 2 of the ways to earn money by being a Mia Bella distributor. If you use both or just one, you will be earning extra income. Extra income that can be used to take a vacation, buy that something special for the house or save for a rainy day. By investing a few hours a week, you will be amazed at how your business will grow! I am.

Did You See It On Oprah?

Sandra Bullock was on Oprah's Earth Day Program talking about all the black junk that paraffin wax candles leave on the jars, walls, and ceilings. That black junk is called soot. She went on to say that the best candle to burn are the ones made with natural waxes found in nature and ones with cotton wicks. Well, DUH!!! Scent-Sations/Mia Bella has been saying this for years. They produce clean, even burning, richly scented products.
Try one of these candles and you will see and smell the difference. The emphasis these days is on protecting our enviroment, so if you are going to burn a scented candle, why not burn one that doesn't harm the air around us?

Memoirs of a PTA Mom

Every once in a while my mind wanders back to a time long, long ago when I joined the PTA at my daughter's elementary school. I joined right after the kids got on the bus for a test ride at Kinder Roundup. Being a newbie, I also signed up for room mother, to volunteer in the school office, to be on the handwriting lab committee and apparently several other things I wasn't aware of. Yep, I was raring to go! All kidding aside, by putting myself out there I made many many new friends, had the inside track on who the "best" teachers were (they were all the best), and got to play a major role in helping shape the future of the school. (at least for 6 years.)
One of the biggest challenges of being on the PTA Board was always fund raising. We had 2 every year. The first was a carnival and the second was "selling something". The carnival was a major nightmare, but year after year it survived and grew mainly because no one had the courage to do away with it, so we made it better.

The "selling something" fund raiser was always a battle. No one wanted to be in charge, no one could agree on what to sell, and no one wanted to be blamed if it didn't make money. So, usually we just went through our list and found moms who hadn't volunteered for anything else and gave it to them. We did wrapping paper, candy, greeting cards, and a bunch of other things I can't remember.

Oh, if only I knew then what I know now. Oh, if only Mia Bella's Gourmet Candles had been around back then. All we would have had to do is call our friendly Independent Distributor, tell her we wanted to set up a fund raiser and then sit back and pat each other on the back saying what a good job we did.

This incredibly nice, knowledgeable, hard working person would supply us with everything we would need to get started(catalogs, order forms, etc) at no cost to us. She would allow us to pick out what products and fragrances WE wanted to use. She would skillfully guide us so that we could meet and even exceed our profit goals. Of course, she would insist on paying the shipping charges herself, so that WE could make more money. And I am positive that WE would receive our money as soon as all funds had cleared. She definitely would not want us to have to wait for delivery.

So, if only I knew then what I know now, I would certainly go to her website http://www.freewebs.com/texasscents-sa/and let her know that we want her help us have an EASY & Profitable fund raiser.
